What is the 21st Century Cures Act?
The 21st Century Cures Act is a federal mandate signed into law by President Obama in December 2016 and requires all states to implement an EVV solution to manage their Personal Care services by 1/1/2019. To see more information about the 21st Century Cares act click here. Page 243 talks specifically to EVV.
What must EVV verify?
- Type of service being performed
- Individual receiving the service
- Date of the service
- Location of service delivery
- Individual providing the service
- Time the service begins and ends
How does Maxim meet the requirements of the 21st Century Cures Act?
MaximCare Mobile® provides the ability to identify services performed during the visit and services refused by the patient for unskilled visits. MaximCare Mobile® tracks the location of the services being provided by tracking the location of the caregiver at the time they start the visit, the time they end the visit, and when the patient’s signature is obtained. Skilled caregivers (RNs and LPNs ) can utilize Maxim’s EVV solution for time in/out and to obtain the appropriate signatures. Maxim is always working on developing new enhancements to this app, which will include a skilled nursing note for full documentation of a skilled caregiver.
What does this mean for health plans?
Nothing changes in the terms of the care Maxim provides or the claims that are submitted. Claims can be updated to meet the needs of the states’ requirements. The only change is that instead of paper documentation, Maxim will provide electronic documentation of the care that was rendered. Maxim has the ability to customize the electronic documentation to meet the needs of the health plans.
