Maxim Healthcare Services (Maxim) proudly supports House lawmakers’ efforts to include Private Duty Nursing (PDN) as a home and community based service under federal statute. This definition change will help create a streamlined definition for states and will ensure that PDN patients benefit from additional federal HCBS infrastructure investments.

Maxim has been working with House and Senate leadership to introduce lawmakers to our medically fragile children and older adults who require PDN and educate lawmakers on the hardships facing the industry and our devoted nurses. The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s inclusion of the language in its portion of the Build Back Better Act is the first step in passing legislation that will help expand access for children and older adults who require these critical services.

The Energy and Commerce Committee is scheduled to markup the reconciliation package this week.
