How to become a CNA or LHA

Certification programs cover general coursework and clinical training. In a simulated patient environment, students learn skills that include proper transfer techniques, feeding methods, catheter care, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living.

Maxim provides financial assistance to help cover the costs of LHA certification programs. Contact your local office to speak with a Maxim representative to determine your eligibility and options.

Colorado CNA program

No one understands the needs of the loved one like you do. The “Parent-as-CNA” program is unique to Colorado Medicaid and allows family members to become certified to care for their loved one and earn income as a Maxim employee.

Arizona LHA program

Similar to the Colorado “Parent-as-CNA” program, Arizona allows a relative that lives with a patient to serve as a paid caregiver. These caregivers are called Licensed Health Aides and family members may obtain their LHA license by completing a free Maxim-provided training and certification program.

What do CNAs and LHAs do?

CNAs and LHAs assist with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care. They are supervised by a registered nurse and help with walking, transfers, bathing, feeding, and toileting among other tasks. These caretakers also collaborate with the patient’s medical team to ensure the best care is being provided.
