John Langley, M.D., chief medical officer and senior vice president of Maxim Healthcare Services, has been awarded the Career Achievement Award by the South Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Langley was honored during the organization’s annual meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, on August 12.
Established in 1986, the award recognizes pediatricians who have made extraordinary contributions to advance the field of pediatric medicine and who champion clinical excellence.
“Throughout his career, Dr. Langley has devoted himself to advancing quality of care, improving health outcomes and serving as an advocate for patients,” said Bill Butz, Maxim’s chief executive officer. “We are deeply grateful for his contributions to Maxim and proud that his leadership is being recognized in the broader medical community.”
Dr. Langley brings more than 40 years of clinical experience to his role at Maxim, a leading provider of home healthcare, medical staffing and population health and wellness services. He began his career on the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina before establishing a private pediatrics practice where he served as senior managing partner for more than 24 years. Prior to joining Maxim in 2009, he served as chief medical officer of East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
An active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics for more than 36 years where he held a variety of state and national leadership positions, Dr. Langley earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Langley is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
