Kansas City nurse receives prestigious honor for life-enriching care of patients.

COLUMBIA, Maryland (April 22, 2024) –  Maxim Healthcare Services (Maxim), a national provider of continuous skilled nursing services and personal and behavioral care, announced today that Tina Paradise-Hall, an LPN from Kansas City, was presented with the John “Doc” Langley National Caregiver of the Year award alongside colleagues and fellow nominees during a ceremony in Orlando, Florida on April 17.

“Tina makes such a difference in the lives of her patients and their families every day,” said Maxim’s Chief Executive Officer, Jarrod DePriest. “We deeply admire Tina’s dedication to providing compassionate, holistic in-home care and we are thrilled to present her with this much-deserved recognition.”

For 20 years, Paradise-Hall has worked as a caregiver, spending the last five years with Maxim. Paradise-Hall is described by her patients’ families as a caring, highly-knowledgeable and passionate caregiver. She currently cares for a medically complex five-year-old boy who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

While there are many admirable qualities about Paradise-Hall, her colleagues all agree that she is an advocate for her patients. Recently, she was able to teach one of her young non-verbal patients how to use a communication device. She believed in her young patient’s abilities and was able to help him in school, advocating that he get to take part in learning the curriculum. The patient thrived under Paradise-Hall’s care and support, and the family largely credits her for their son’s academic success.

During the ceremony Paradise-Hall shared her gratitude and passion for her work, “Where else in the world can you do a job that you love so much?”

Outside of caregiving, Paradise-Hall has experienced great loss in her personal life. However, she credits her job for the purpose it gives her. “I do find the strength and motivation to get up for work every day through the kids I care for because I am needed and likewise, I need them too,” said Paradise-Hall.

Maxim’s Caregiver of the Year Award program celebrates nurses, home healthcare aides, and behavioral direct care workers for their impactful contributions to the home healthcare community. Learn more about Paradise-Hall’s inspiring story, here.
