FAQs
Personal assistance is typically utilized by individuals learning to live a more independent lifestyle. Hours are scheduled on a consistent weekly basis and can be used outside of the home. Respite services are used only in the home and intended to give the parents or primary caregiver a rest.
Services may be provided in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, day programs, schools, community, facilities, and in the home.
To qualify, an individual must be registered with their local regional center and work with a service coordinator to determine eligibility.
Our caregivers can help with most activities of daily living as long as they do not require clinical judgement. This includes safety supervision, assistance with personal care (i.e., bathing, grooming, feeding, etc.) and companionship. One-to-one attention provided by caregivers can help manage challenging behaviors and keep individuals on task.
You may call the local Maxim office anytime to schedule hours and find out how many are available.
