Registered Behavior Technician

Registered Behavior Technicians, or RBTs, provide behavioral interventions to children on the Autism Spectrum at patients’ homes or schools. Specifically, RBTs help children develop effective social, motor, language, communication and cognitive skills.

RBTs work under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and collaborate with clients, families, communities and other care team members to develop treatment plans. We are committed to your career growth – RBTs receive 40+ hours of paid behavioral training and ongoing training opportunities.

Minimum requirements

Requirements may vary by state, but in general, RBTs have the following:

  • Completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of college coursework and currently enrolled and working toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, behavioral sciences, human development or related fields OR have completed 48 hours semester hours of college coursework
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) are responsible for conducting training, evaluating children with ASD, and directing the development of behavioral plans. BCBAs work closely with RBTs and observe, assess and supervise their service delivery.

BCBAs drive the development of treatment plans and work with families, insurance companies and other care professionals to recommend individualized and evidence-based treatment strategies. Once the plans have been implemented, BCBAs monitor progress and make changes to help children get effective care.

Minimum requirements

Requirements vary from state to state, but in general, BCBAs have:

  • Current BCBA certification or Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst certification. BCaBAs are supervised by a BCBA
  • Commitment to excellence in applied behavior analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
