They are a great way to learn new things and stay updated on the latest nursing news while commuting or doing chores around the house. Whether you’re looking for an informative discussion on current topics or want to hear personal stories from nurses, these podcasts will keep you entertained and inspired.

SHIFT Talk
The SHIFT Talk podcast brings nurses together to talk about challenges they are facing on and off the clock. In its first season, SHIFT Talk discussed the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and covered how nurses were healing while dealing with burnout. The second season’s theme is health equity: “we’re interviewing nurses who are working to ensure all patients can access the resources and care they need to be healthy…We’re going beyond the clinical and looking at the social factors that impact health – from a person’s zip code, to their education, to their job. Even structural racism.”
A few topics SHIFT Talk covers are: Be the change you want to see, A love letter to nurses, Next-generation nursing, and Diversity, disparities, determinants, oh my!

Nursing Uncensored
In 2017, Adrianne Behning, BSN, RN, began the Nursing Uncensored podcast to talk about the day-to-day lives of nurses and to provide tips on helpful products and apps for nurses; information that she felt was missing in the more technical nursing podcasts that covered topics like pathophysiology, pharmacology and entrepreneurship. “I try to create content that is raw, real and relevant to life on and off the clock. I want to use this platform to educate in an informal setting, using humor and storytelling as meaningful teaching tools. On the podcast, I interview nurses of all kinds about their experiences and passions.”
Here is a sample of some topics Nursing Uncensored covers: Protection and growth for your career with Irnise F. Williams, Esq., How you can fight healthcare disparities: a conversation with the Gritty Nurses, The path to self-advocacy for new nurses with Deanna Mackey, RN.

The Happy Nurse
The Happy Nurse podcast was created by Elaina Mullery, RN, a nurse who also holds a degree in mindfulness and meditation and is a certified hypnotherapist and neuro-linguistic programming practitioner. Due to her experience practicing nursing in challenging environments, Elaina has first-hand experience with stress and burnout that led her to become passionate about personal development.
Elaina’s podcast aims to help nurses prioritize self-care, “Nurses are the backbones of the health system, always there to care for a stranger as if they were their own, forsaking special moments with their own families to ensure that other families’ loved ones are being cared for. Compassion fatigue, stress and burnout are on the rise in healthcare workers. Self-care has never been so important.”
Elaina and her guests cover topics such as Understanding how we’re feeling through mindfulness and meditation, What professional anxiety looks like with Lauren Bell, Body image issues with Michelle Powell and The key to self-care with Beth Browning.
